CARE OF THE ELDERLY

As we become older there is a tendency to lose muscle strength, mobility and balance. The effects of osteoporosis can also cause problems within the spine and of certain joints. As people get older it is inevitable that they will be at a greater risk of falling. This is also true for individuals who have various neurological conditions. Falls are the major cause of injury with people over the age of sixty-five.

Adot Healthcare Physiotherapy specialises in providing physiotherapy and rehabilitation services  to clients in their home thereby providing the opportunity for those people who cannot, or find it difficult to attend a physiotherapy clinic.

Our physiotherapists are dedicated health professionals, committed to helping you achieve your functional goals, through an individualised treatment program based on your specific needs. They will visit you in your home, and discuss with you your presenting problem, your general health, and your treatment goals before physically assessing the problem. Using this information, he or she will develop an individual treatment plan, and treatment usually starts on the first visit. With your permission, the physiotherapist will liaise with other medical professionals that are treating you to ensure a multi-disciplinary approach to your care.

Falls prevention programs

At Adot Healthcare Physiotherapy, our specialist physiotherapists believe that it is important to minimise the risk of falling as much as possible by designing an individualised falls prevention programme including risk assessment, equipment and adaptation advice which will help to improve your strength, mobility, and balance to mention a few benefits. As a result, you will be less at risk of falling.

They have the knowledge to help you to walk again properly or move properly after surgery. The ultimate goal being to return you to the hobbies and sports that you love. Safe and appropriate re-conditioning exercise programs following prolonged inactivity or hospitalisation
